What it casts
The shadow, not the fixture
Lit, Cordoue sends its tessellation out into the room: interlocking geometry travelling across walls and ceiling the way its ancestors travelled across mosaic — continuously, with no seam where one motif ends and the next begins. The plain drywall of a dining corner becomes patterned surface; the fixture is simply where the pattern is brightest. It is the closest the collection comes to architecture you can switch on.
Cultural origin
Where the geometry comes from
Cordoue takes its name — by way of French — from Córdoba, whose Umayyad golden age made interlaced geometric ornament an art form; the Great Mosque of Córdoba, begun in 785 and elaborated for two centuries after, remains its most famous expression. Cordoue is a contemporary parametric piece in that lineage: it borrows the stitchless, endlessly repeating property of that ornament rather than reproducing any historical panel.

Cordoue is the pendant in the collection with the deepest roots. It takes its name — by way of French — from Córdoba, whose Umayyad-era builders made seamless geometric ornament an art form: patterns engineered, a millennium before software, to repeat endlessly across mosaic surfaces. Cordoue borrows that property rather than any single panel — a motif that is scalable and stitchless, with no visible beginning or end, wrapped across the faces of the shade so the geometry flows over the form without a seam. The palette is deliberately restrained: hammered black, which reads as carved stone by day, or matte white, which lets the pattern do the talking. Hang it over a dining table or in an entryway with wall space around it — this is a piece that wants surfaces to work on, because its pattern is designed to leave the fixture and keep going. Each one is built to order in Montréal and hand-finished, with a white or black fabric cord and a black or white metal canopy.
