What it casts
The shadow, not the fixture
For most of its length Canula Kaos holds its light close — a quiet, glowing tube — and then releases it all at once through the Voronoi cells at the end. What lands below is dappled: an irregular scatter of bright cells and soft-edged shadow, closer to sunlight through leaves than to anything drawn with a ruler. Over a bedside table or a bar counter, it turns the surface directly beneath into the room's most interesting square metre.
Cultural origin
Where the geometry comes from
The 'kaos' detail is a Voronoi partition — the geometry of nearest neighbours, named for the mathematician Georgy Voronoi — generated by scattering seed points and letting each one claim its territory. It is the pattern nature defaults to on its own: dragonfly wings, drying riverbed mud, foam. No tradition is quoted here; the design's honesty is that the pattern is grown, not drawn.

Canula Kaos is a study in restraint with one wild moment. The body is a slim, clean tube — the kind of pendant that almost disappears in daylight — and then, at its end, the surface breaks into a Voronoi cell pattern, an organic lattice of irregular openings that lets the light spill out in fragments. That contrast is the whole design: machine-straight above, naturally grown below. It hangs beautifully alone over a bedside table, where the dappled pool of light replaces a lamp, and even better in a series over a counter or bar, the tubes reading as a quiet rhythm until evening turns each one on. The finishes keep things quiet — brushed copper, brushed gold, hammered black, matte white — and pair with a white or black fabric-wrapped cord and a black or white metal canopy. Each one is made to order in Montréal — digital craft, then a hand finish.
